2D Cupcakes, Radio and writing.

This week we had cupcakes for Sean's birthday, thank you Sean. We listened to the story "Frog is Frog" and then interviewed the "Frog" asking him probing questions. The children worked in small groups a took turns being the interviewers or the frog, we had a lot of fun doing this.
Later in the week the children wrote the story in their own words and I was very impressed at how much their writing has improved over the year. The class was almost silent as they all concentrated on writing their own version of the story. They then checked each other's work suggesting improvements to punctuation, sentence openers, connectives and adjectives.

2E Map Making

This week and the children have been finding out about Hong Kong. They were given blank maps of Hong Kong and asked to use Google Maps and Google Earth to find a variety of places to mark on their maps. The children really enjoyed this activity and some of them found it challenging, having found places their iPads, to correctly locate them on their blank maps. A real learning experience. "It's all about shapes," said Mr Oak.

Also this week, the children have been writing diary entries from the point of view of the giant in The Smartest Giant in Town. They really got into the character and thought about how he would describe the things he saw and did on that day.

In maths, the children have been converting analogue time into digital time. We played a fun game of Digital Time Bingo.

2E Asssessments!

This week the children have been getting stuck into their end of year assessments. They have endured a spelling test, a grammar test, two reading comprehension tests, and two writing tests. They also completed a maths test. I have been very impressed with their positive attitude to these tests and am confident that they have done themselves justice, in terms of showing me how much they have learnt since the beginning of the year.

In between tests, the children have been working their way through a times tables booklet and creating some fabulous silhouette pictures of the Great Fire of London.

Year 2 Mandarin Beginner Class

We have learnt food, vegetables and fruits these few weeks. Students found great interest in learning the words which they can communicate with others in daily life. They are happy to sing the vegetable's song and do the questionnaire with classmates. Let see how exciting they are.
