Story Sequencing and Place Value in 2C!

In continuation of our Traditional Tales unit, children have been learning to sequence the story 'The Gingerbread Man'. Working with others in the class, children were given a section of the story and worked to arrange themselves into the correct order. After some debate, they succeeded!

In Maths, the class have been learning how to use the mathematical equipment called Dienes blocks. This allows children to physically represent the value of each digit within two and three digit numbers by showing their hundreds, tens and units. This helps make numbers real for children of a young age and helps lay the foundation for later mathematical understanding. They had great fun working together to solve the answers using the equipment!
