Class 2A working hard

Last week as part of World Book day we discussed our favourite books and authors. The children were really keen to share their thoughts and could talk about the books they enjoyed in detail. I invited the children to bring in their favourite books to share with others in the class. It is really useful to discuss different texts and think about which authors are around and which we might enjoy reading. Here are some pictures of the children with their books. We will be reading them and sharing them tomorrow afternoon so there is still time if your child would like to bring a book in tomorrow

Jerry and The Big Egg Hunt
Ethan and The Way of the Samuri
Jack is reading Go Bugs Go!

Bair and The Ugly Duckling

Sophia and The Return of the Vampire

Natalie and Trouble in The Big Apple

Claudia with George Flies South

Edward chose a non fiction book all about The Air and Space Museum. This has been very popular with the class as we have been learning about Neil Armstrong.

It has been lovely to hear the children talk so enthusiastically about the books that they are learning. I hope to see more come into school tomorrow. I will put more photos on the blog tomorrow of the children reading and sharing their books with class friends.

In English we have started a new topic looking at Fantasy Worlds. The children have shown an excellent attitude towards the subject and had lots of interesting ideas. Over the last couple of days we have focused on creative writing, we have looked at using the power of 3 (putting 3 adjectives into a sentence separated with commas, for example The Enchanted, fascinating and unusual castle.) I have been very impressed with some of their work, here are a couple of pieces for you to look at:
