2E Sea Creatures and Princesses and Peas

The children this week created their own sea creatures. They were tasked with designing their own sea creature and drawing a detailed, labelled diagram of it. They were required to describe their creature to a friend and filmed each other doing so with the iPads. After they had made sure they had added as much detail to the description of the creature - how it moves, what it eats, what sounds it makes, etc - they then presented their creature to the whole class. I was very impressed with the confidence with which the children spoke to their peers. We still have a couple to do tomorrow.

Also this week we had our exciting trip out to the theatre to watch The Princess and the Pea. The children really enjoyed the show and the bus rides there and back!

2C Sea Monster Diagrams and Passports, Rhyming, Guided Reading, Fractions and Kidsfest!

As part of our non-fiction unit exploring information texts and their features,  2C created their own sea monsters in order to learn how to label a diagram using some descriptive language. We hope you enjoy their work!

2C have also been creating passports for their sea monsters! In their passports, they gave their sea monster a name and wrote a suitable description of it. To help develop their speaking and listening skills, the class then presented their sea monster and its passport to the rest of the class.

In English the class are learning about poetry and rhyming. Here they are trying to match some rhyming words. Much discussion as to which answer was correct ensued!

Matching rhyming words and then trying to add one of their own!

As part of Literacy Workshop, table groups alternate between reading with the teacher, teaching assistant, diary writing, free reading books from the classroom, working on English booklets practising phonics, doing joined up handwriting practice or using English learning game apps on iPads.

In Maths 2C have been learning about fractions and how to identify fractions of shapes.
