2A Mathematicians and Historians

For the last couple of weeks class 2A have worked really hard in Maths. We have spent a lot of time learning core number facts and the children are trying really hard to retain key information. We have focused on counting in 2's, 5's and 10's and used this knowledge to learn and support our times tables.

Here is our classes times tables ladder. The children are keen to learn their times tables and and to progress to the next level. Please help your child practise their tables at home too as this will really benefit them.

Here are some examples of the whiteboard work the children have completed over the last two weeks. As you can see they have tried really hard to follow set methods and learn new concepts...

In History we have started our new topic on Explorers. The children were really excited to share their knowledge about the different explorers they already knew and discoveries they had made. I set them the challenge of completing a time line of explorers through the ages. The children worked in groups and enjoyed learning about the different explorers.

Here are some of the children working well in teams to complete group work...

Finally I would just like to say how quickly the children have settled back into school after the Christmas break. I am very impressed with both behaviour and work ethic. All children are working hard and producing work to the best of their ability, which is brilliant to see. I am looking forward to this next term, working with the children and watching them progress further
