Information texts and weather

This week has seen us browsing and analysing non-fictions texts, specifically information books. The children have learnt about contents pages, glossaries, index pages, titles, sub-heading, fact boxes, diagrams, pictures, etc. The children identified these features in texts and labelled them appropriately.

We have also been doing some phonics assessments this week, to find out what gaps, if any, there are in your child's phonic knowledge.

In geography work, the children created weather posters to display some of the different types of weather you might see around the world. There were some interesting interpretations, but they were all labelled very clearly with the correct weather words. This work links in well into our English work on information texts.
