2B - Julia Donaldson stories

The children have finished developing their Julia Donaldson style storyboards and enjoyed hot seating each other and telling their stories. Gilles did a particularly excellent job of describing the villain in his story (a slimy, gigantic and terrifying dinosaur) and Naomi demonstrated how to describe characters and their movements - "the golden eagle swooped from the sky, flapping his wings." The class will begin to write these tomorrow and I'm really excited to see the finished versions!

In Maths the children revised their knowledge of Measure - with regards to Capacity, Length and Weight. We then began our new topic on Position, Turns and Direction. Today the class practised using the correct vocabulary by completing a picture grid and answering questions about where certain symbols/objects could be found. Later in the week they will be creating their own maps with chalk on the playground - as we begin to explore turns and directions in a practical way.
