2E The Gruffalo's Child and Watery Maths

We read The Gruffalo's Child earlier this week and had some discussions about how the characters might be feeling at various points in the story. We wrote book reviews about our favourite Julia Donaldson book and did some online research about her and her writing, by visiting her own website. Today, the children have started to plan a story in the style of Julia Donaldson, using Room on the Broom as the basis for the structure of our story. Tomorrow, the children will start to write their story.

We started our topic about the Great Fire of London this week. The children discovered how the fire started and why it spread so quickly through the city.

In maths, the children have enjoyed finding out about units of measurement for liquids. The had fun pouring water from different containers to try to estimate specific volumes. Many of them were really good at estimating how much water to put in an empty Sprite bottle so that it measures 100ml, 200ml, or 500ml, etc.
