Instructions, Instructions, Instructions 2D

This week we have been learning about instructions. The children started by giving each other directions and we soon found that to be successful our instructions had to be very specific. We used "bossy verbs" like put, sit, cut and draw so that our instructions were easy to follow.

The children had a lot of fun using these skills to order their friends around the room and into unusual shapes.

Next, we looked at instructional texts and identified the features that made them effective. We also tried to write our own instructions.

The pictures below show our work from the beginning of the week and as you can see, lots of fantastic collaboration went on between the children.
